Want to start taking the pill but have a dilemma on what to do with my BCP

I have been waiting to take the pill as I am not a fan of injection.

My problem is that I am on daily oral birth control pills and don’t really want to change that (you can imagine why 😊)

I am reading so much different stuff on different subs about that and now confused. I just went to Chat GPT and wrote the below question and got the below answer. (I got a similar answer from Google AI)

I initially wanted to go on Foundayo due to its lack of food restriction - but now I am no longer sure. What’s the opinion here? Please put your biases aside and tell me your honest opinion as this is an important topic for me. Thank you.

Question to Chat GPT:

Is there a difference between Foundayo and Wegovy Pill when it comes to their usage and oral birth control pill. I am on birth control pill right now and want to start taking anti obesity pill, what do you recommend me?

Answer from Chat GPT:

This is a very important and nuanced question—and there is a real difference between Foundayo and Wegovy when it comes to birth control pills.

Let’s break it down clearly 👇

🧬 The key difference (this is the headline)

🔴 Foundayo (orforglipron)

•	Can reduce effectiveness of oral birth control pills

•	You are explicitly advised to use backup contraception

•	for 30 days after starting

•	and 30 days after each dose increase

👉 Why?

It slows stomach emptying, which may change how your body absorbs the hormones in the pill

🟢 Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide)

•	No evidence of reduced effectiveness of birth control pills

•	Studies show no meaningful impact on absorption

👉 But:

•	Still theoretical concern due to slower digestion

•	And side effects like vomiting/diarrhea can reduce pill effectiveness if they occur after taking it

⚖️ Simple comparison

Topic Foundayo Wegovy pill

Effect on pill absorption ⚠️ Likely reduced ✅ No meaningful effect seen

Official label warning 🚨 Yes ❌ No

Backup contraception needed ✅ Yes (30 days after start/dose increase) ❌ Not routinely

Main risk driver Delayed absorption GI side effects (vomiting/diarrhea)

🧠 What I would recommend (practical, no-nonsense)

If you are currently on oral birth control and want an obesity pill, here is the real-world guidance:

🟢 Option 1 (simplest & safest)

👉 Wegovy pill

•	Less friction with contraception

•	No formal requirement for backup method

•	Still: be careful if you have vomiting/diarrhea

🟡 Option 2 (if choosing Foundayo)

👉 You can use it, but:

•	You must add protection (e.g., condoms) during:

•	first month

•	after each dose escalation

•	Or consider switching to:

•	IUD

•	implant

•	patch

🔵 Option 3 (best overall contraceptive reliability)

👉 If weight loss therapy is a priority:

•	Consider non-oral contraception

•	Not affected by GLP-1 drugs at all

•	This removes all uncertainty

⚠️ One subtle but important point

Even beyond drug interaction:

•	Weight loss itself can increase fertility

•	So pregnancy risk may actually increase while on these drugs

🧭 Bottom line (clear and decisive)

•	Wegovy pill → safer choice with birth control pills

•	Foundayo → requires extra precautions

•	Best-in-class safety → switch to non-oral contraception
