Car: Toyota C-HR 2017 Hybrid 1.8 (JDM import)
Issue: “Headlight system malfunction. Visit your dealer” + yellow triangle on dash. Error appears 2–3 seconds after startup and stays.
What I’ve done so far:
Tried multiple rear headlight height sensors (no fix)
Wiring checked completely from rear to front (all OK)
Calibration attempted multiple times using diagnostic tools
Mechanic confirmed headlight leveling motors are working beams move up/down and auto-leveling works when car is lifted and lowered and shows data on computer
Current situation:
System is physically working (auto-leveling responds), but error does not go away.
Question:
What could cause the system to work normally but still show this error?
Looking for proper diagnosis steps instead of guessing parts.
