Trying to reduce friction in the prep ritual using a modular setup
Been iterating on a compact smoking station designed to reduce small annoyances that repeat every session.
Main goals: • everything within one-hand reach • minimise lost material • keep tools visible • quick reset between sessions • avoid sticky fingers where possible Using Gridfinity modules so the layout can evolve over time.
The bong sits on its own removable tray so the main prep area can stay clean, and the setup can expand when needed without redesigning everything.
The ashtray is positioned so it works whether the system is in the compressed layout or expanded layout, so cleanup stays convenient in both modes. Currently testing 3D printed compliant tweezers for handling small amounts more precisely — feels better than expected and helps avoid overhandling.
Basic flow: grind → tray pick up with tweezers pack → tamp ash zone separate from fresh material bong on removable base system expands when needed quick reset
Still experimenting with: • micro brush solution • TPU anti-slip surfaces • tray geometry tweaks Trying to remove those tiny friction points that keep happening every session.
What’s the most annoying part of prep for you?
