Hanging out with friends has been replaced with “sending reels”
I genuinely think something strange has happened to conversations on the internet.
“Hanging out” with friends has slowly become:
sending reels,
reacting to stories,
sharing memes,
sending “bro look at this” posts
And the weird part is… it works.
It gives you just enough social stimulation to feel like you talked to someone.
It’s 11pm after a long exhausting day and what you’re actually craving is simple:
a real conversation,
presence,
human interaction.
But instead, you end up doomscrolling for hours and sending reels because it feels easier than actually reaching out.
For a moment, your brain thinks:
“nice, social interaction achieved.”
Then the screen turns off and the emptiness is still there.
About a year ago, after noticing this pattern in myself and people around me, I started building something around this idea
A platform where people meet without photos, names, or gender.
Profile cards are built around curiosity, personality, humor, music taste, weird opinions, life experiences. And every interaction is one-on-one, not performative.
And something interesting happened
People started opening up insanely fast about heavy issues. Become way more comfortable since there is no judgement or anything.
So i think maybe people aren’t addicted to content as much as they’re deprived of conversation and being genuinely present with another human being.
Curious if others feel this or if I'm just chronically online and projecting lmao.
