Sudden Nosebleeds
Hi all,
I'm a healthy 48 yr old M who has never more than a simple nosebleed that last only a couple minutes.
I have High BP that is medically controlled and no other health abnormalities. In 1996 I had sinusitis surgery on my right side due to living in a chain smoker's home as a kid. During that surgery, they added a septal perf.
On 4/26, I had a sudden nosebleed, more like a nose gush that wouldn't stop, even after urgent care put rhino rockets in and the sent me to the ER where the rockets were replaced with rapid rhino balloons in both nostrils. This nosebleed lasted 13 freaking hours. I was admitted to the hospital for a couple days for observation. My Red Blood cells, White Blood cells, platelets, hemacrit, and hemoglobin were all extremely elevated to the point where they sent labs to an off-site facility (those results are still not back yet).
Fast forward to today and I had a nosebleed that started gushing at 1:02 pm EST. I tried to get it to stop but ultimately went to my ENT, where it was still bleeding 90 minutes later, after they inserted a rapid rhino balloon in my left nostril. Now, I'm at the ER waiting to see what is going to be done.
I feel like they need to cauterize the area, but I'm also concerned that this may be something more sinister causing this.
Rapid Rhinos are so uncomfortable, and not being able to breathe nasally sucks.
