Removed 12 inches of wood chips and a ton of landscaping fabric, now natives are emerging on their own to compete with invasives!

Previous owners put down fabric (now falling apart) and a metric fuckton of woodchips at the base of a western redcedar and bigleaf maple, root flares were completely smothered. Cleared it last fall and put in a few ferns. Come spring, not only are western starflower and Oregon grape emerging on their own, but they're holding their own against the St John's Wort (next on my hit list) that wants to claim the area.
