On a scale of one to done, how screwed am I?
In my post grad days I published several academic journal articles, the most recent of which was while I was serving at my DOJ component. My bio in these articles listed my place of employment. My supervisor found out a few weeks ago about these articles and asked to read them. I complied, and he called me today to ask me who authorized me to work on these articles.
No one?
Apparently, I was meant to seek permission to publish these articles beforehand. I had no idea. The premise makes sense as a representative of my component, but hindsight is always 20/20.
The articles are scientific studies and inoffensive, so the content should not be a problem. But how screwed am I for not getting authorization first?
