CSR Recon Help: Denied at 4/24, ‘Too many recent accounts’

Dropped to 4/24 this month (my oldest account from April 2024 just fell off) and applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve in May. I initially got the 7-10 day review notice, followed by a denial for ‘too many recently opened accounts’ after my 1st recon call.

Here is my timeline:

  • Recon 1: The rep said they couldn’t approve me by moving credit because my cards with enough limit are less than 12 months old. I am not sure if they just couldn’t pull credit from multiple accounts at once, or if it was just a convenient excuse.
  • My Fix: I went on the Chase app and manually moved a $10k limit from my older Chase cards (over 12 months old) to my Freedom Flex (opened in 2023). My CFF now shows a $20k limit on my end.
  • Recon 2 (Today/Sunday): The rep said they can’t see the updated limits and refused to override the denial. I am not sure if their system is frozen with the snapshot from when I applied, or if the update is just delayed because it is the weekend.

I really want to get this approved for some upcoming big purchases, and I want to hop on the Whoop offer that expires this Tuesday. I don’t mind burning another hard pull if it guarantees approval.

My questions for the sub:

  1. Has anyone had a similar experience with a credit limit related issue? Will they eventually see the updated line, or does the system only look at my credit profile from the exact day I applied?
  2. Should I call recon 3 again on Monday/Tuesday, or do I need a fresh application? I don't know if “too many recent accounts” is a hard denial reason, but they didn't immediately deny me when I submitted the application, so I am confused.

Any advice or similar DPs would be hugely appreciated!
