I just finished AOT (first anime I've ever been able to get into) AND FEEL SO EMPTY!!
I need media recs (anime, books, movies, shows) of what to consume next to fill the void.
I think AOT is genuinely the best piece of fiction I've ever experienced (as someone who reads A TON and used to think Game of Thrones was the best show ever made).
What I thought made it peak for reference:
- foreshadowing from episode 1
- consistent peak / no filler
- character and plot driven
- the mystery of the world had me hooked immediately
- how attached I became to all of the characters: both their platonic and romantic relationships
- how there was NO mid side characters: everyone was fleshed out
- VERY complex characters with different backstories, motives, and philosophies
- historical references
- themes: cyclical nature of violence and war, existential exploration of meaning and life and suffering, freedom, justice and revenge, "This world is cruel but also beautiful"
also I've already read The Poppy War for reference and loved that too.
