This is a mini update on restoring my abandoned pool. I just want to first say thank you to everyone who replied to my last post. I was low-key not confident about even starting because of how bad shape the whole pool was in, but thanks to all the advice and replies, it gave me some motivation to begin.

So today I emptied out the whole pool of all the debris. I found big rocks, flower pots, bricks, and even a dead rat. I guess whoever owned this house before used it as a trash pit or something. I measured the pool and it seems to be 10 feet deep, a lot deeper than I expected. Anyways, I've been trying to pump out all the water but noticed that the water is also rising. I realized that water from underground is coming up into the pool. How would I even fix that? I'm so confused about what I should do about that.

I dont know why I cant send the video here so instead I posted it on youtube here's the link to it https://youtube.com/shorts/YmHGRFwH5Zs?si=noW2nOEuq\_UAjO\_R

Anyone have any advise, videos to help or anything, I would totally appreciate it.

Just bought this house and I’m trying to bring the pool back to life. As you can see in the pictures, it’s in really rough shape, rust, torn liner/material, standing water, plants/tree growing inside, and I was informed it was sitting abandoned for 5 years.

I’d prefer to try doing as much of the work myself as possible to save money, but I honestly don’t know where to start.

Does anyone have advice on:

What steps I should take first

Whether this looks salvageable or not

What I should check for structurally

How to deal with the rust

Any tips, warnings, or things you wish you knew before restoring an old pool would really really help.
