I am a PGY-2 internal medicine resident on a J-1 visa and I am a Canadian citizen. I have recently started looking for jobs on PracticeLink and PracticeMatch. Some job postings say they accept H-1bs, others say they accept J-1s, and some say they accept both.

I am confused about this. Isn't the J-1 waiver job going to be on an H-1b visa? Should I be applying only to the positions saying they accept J-1s? Or can I also apply to positions that say they accept H-1bs? Is there a distinction that I need to be aware of?
