So does the butterfly effect not matter at all because of attractor fields?

It feels like with Steins;Gate rule of how time travel works, no matter what you do how big or small it won't matter in the grand scale of things because the attractor field just converges and corrects it to your current world line.

Personally I find it pretty disappointing I always loved the idea of doing something small in the past changes something drastic in the future.

Instead of sending himself a dmail to stop him from following Suzuha, why didn't he try sending a dmail much later informing about the storm damages to the time machine instead?

Wouldn't that achieve the same result plus the added bonus of retaining all the interactions of Suzuha with the lab members and especially her knowing about Daru?

in the end it didn't even matter since more dmails will be undone, but I felt like it would have been a better happy ending for Alpha Amane at least so she got to live her life in the 70s knowing her father.

So it's been established that in the future SERN controls time machine technology and used that for their dystopia.

Is it accurate to compare them to Skynet, then?

Because then that got me thinking, since Suzuha would be the Kyle Reese in this scenario, why didn't SERN send their own "terminator" or someone back in time to meddle with Okabe's timeline to make sure the SERN dystopia still happens?

On that note, since SERN has complete control of time travel in the future, why don't we see SERN in general just messing around with history to their advantage, and in theory Okabe should detect these changes with his reading steiner right?
