TrustedHousesitters account

Has anyone here deleted and restarted their TrustedHousesitters account after getting a bad review?

I had all 5-star reviews before this, but after one negative review I’ve noticed a huge drop in responses and booking requests. It’s honestly really discouraging because I put a lot of effort into my sits and communication.

Curious if anyone has gone through this before. Has anyone actually start over with a new account and see better results?

Trying not to overreact, but it definitely feels like one review changes everything on the platform.

Does anyone here actually do TrustedHousesitters full time? What’s your strategy?

I’ve been thinking about trying to make THS work long term while between jobs and figuring out my next move. Curious how people actually structure it in real life.

Do you stay local or move city to city? How far ahead do you book sits? Do you stack them back to back or leave gaps intentionally?

Also wondering how people handle housing gaps, if premium memberships are worth it, and whether it’s actually sustainable long term or social media just makes it look easy.

Would love to hear honest experiences, pros/cons, burnout, money saved, best cities, weird situations, and any tips for making it work consistently.

Reviews

Got a bad TrustedHousesitters review saying I left the house dirty, and I honestly feel blindsided. I spent hours cleaning before leaving. I washed and replaced sheets, cleaned the floors, wiped surfaces, cleaned pet areas, and took out trash. I was also extremely responsive throughout the sit and usually replied within minutes.

What’s frustrating is the house was actually very cluttered when I arrived. There were items on the floors and counters, and the room I stayed in was not very clean when I got there. I didn’t complain because I wanted to be respectful and focused on taking great care of the pets instead.

Another thing that caught me off guard was that the homeowner was also staying in the house during part of the sit, which I later found out is against TrustedHousesitters rules. That was never clearly communicated beforehand.

All my other reviews are 5 stars with no issues, so this feels really unfair. Has anyone successfully gotten a review removed or modified on TrustedHousesitters? Do they ever remove reviews if you have photos or message history showing the condition of the home and your communication during the sit?
