Hey everyone,
I recently created my Express Entry profile and have a question regarding how the system is calculating my CRS score for Education History.
My Background:
University #1: Completed a 2-year Diploma of Engineering (2020–2022).
University #2: Completed a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (2022 - 2024, 2.5 years total, including co-op). I transferred directly into the 3rd year of this program using credits from my diploma.
Credentials held: I have two physical documents—the Diploma from University #1 and the Bachelors Degree from University #2.
The Issue:
In my EE profile, I listed these as two separate entries. The system is currently awarding me points for "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees," which adds roughly +20 extra points to my CRS (+8 extra in Level of Education and +12 extra in Skill Transferability).
My Concern:
The IRCC website states that for this category, one of the programs must be at least three years in duration. Even though I entered "2 years" for each entry, the system still granted the extra points.
Since my Bachelor’s degree was technically a 4-year program (but I finished it in 2.5 years due to the transfer), am I eligible to claim these points? Is it justifiable to claim them since these are two distinct credentials from two different institutions?
Has anyone else with a "Diploma + Degree" transfer path been in this situation? I want to ensure my profile is accurate to avoid any issues with misrepresentation later on.
Thanks in advance for your help!
