Like, I get the economic benefits of promotion since we're in a shittier situation economically unlike the time of the boomer generation.

However, the thought of chasing for a promotion has really fucked my mental health. It's been a contributing factor to my demotivation at work. It also doesn't help that I'm in a government agency/unit with a shitty organizational structure and that there are "anak ng diyos (management) types of hires" and "sipsip" culture. A close colleague who's already a veteran in the agency has observed that a lot of young government workers are "nagmamadali" to get promoted while he/she got his/her promotion to division chief while in her 60s already. I know that it might be different from other agencies (seniority culture) so maybe my experience is not the norm.

I just want to know takes on the subject question so that I can expand my perspective beyond the confines of my current workplace.
