How common is a café américain in Paris? And has the coffee scene changed in recent years?
Hi everyone! My last trip to Paris was about 3–4 years ago, and I noticed that most cafés didn't really list an Americano on the menu — the usual options were espresso, allongé, or café crème.
A few questions:
- Is an Americano something you can usually ask for even if it's not on the menu, or is it genuinely uncommon?
- Has the specialty coffee scene in Paris grown since then? I've heard it has.
- Any difference between Paris and Bordeaux in this regard?
Not a silly question I hope—I just want to go in with the right expectations. Thanks!
