Moving from a roach-infested flat
Hi all. I recently moved into a flat, only to learn not too long later that it has had a german roach infestation 'on and off' for the past two years. The only treatment prior to my moving in has been the head tenant using gel bait with boric acid as the main ingredient. I've started using a gel bait with indoxocarb, but we dont have any non-repellent sprays available in my country. I've also been pushing heavily for pest control to get involved, but I'm worried both that they'll only get one treatment and that only control will be achieved rather than fully eradicating them. Either result has me wanting to move house before they can get into my belongings.
I intend to follow the stickied advice where I can, primarily using plastic bins with foam tape to seal them off for about a month, but I'm not sure how much to keep. The room I'm staying in is the furthest from any food or water source in the house, with the current active infestation being present in the kitchen. I've seen two roaches in the hallway outside my room the night after baiting the kitchen, but none on the monitors I've set up in the hall or in my room. Is it worth chucking out items like my tv and bed to be safe if the monitors stay clean? Im likely discarding anything in the living room as its attached to the kitchen and ive seen roaches there, but I'm not sure how 'safe' to consider my room. Would more monitors give me a better idea, or should I just assume the worst and that most of my infest-able belongings have to go?
