08 Kawasaki ZZ-R 600 38K miles on the chassis, if the guy I bought it from wasn’t bullshitting me about 6K miles on the engine got it end of January
Got to work yesterday and she was blowing some steam and coolant out from the lower hoses where they connect to the water pump, didn’t have the tools with me to pull off the side plastic and top up the radiator and needed to make it home at the end of the day. Video starts where I got off the freeway just by my house, I did make it but she wasn’t happy about it. Daytime portion is from this morning when I went to go assess the situation after she cooled off. Doesn’t sound bad now but unsure what damage the internals may have, there was a lot of smoke after I got home and shut her down (it was too dark to see anything in the video then)
I already ordered new hoses, was already planning to replace all of those and the clamps before yesterday but finally expedited it to the top of the priority list.
Should I drop the motor out of the frame and check it out or should I just fix the coolant issue and if she runs fine just send it?
Worst case scenario the motor is toast and I go find an 03/04 zx6r parts bike and do a motor swap, best case I fix the coolant issue and it’s fine, middle ground it needs some tearing into but parts are cheap enough I can’t justify the parts bike
