How do progressive house producers create those “filter sweep then slam back in” moments in drops?

In a lot of progressive house tracks (DubVision, Matisse & Sadko, Third Party, Garrix etc.) there’s this technique during the drop where around the 8th bar they suddenly sweep/filter things out for a moment, then everything slams back in and the drop feels huge again.

I’m trying to understand what combinations producers usually use to achieve this effect
Are they usually high-passing only the harmony/leads?Or also filtering/removing the bass and kick? Is volume automation involved too?

I’d love to understand the different approaches people use for this and what creates the most impact
