This guy tried to Rent a flat saying that he owns it in Bengaluru . He was just the tenant with all the documents. I went to the location and checked the flat after a few days and kept giving excuses that someone died, needs repainting, needs tiles fixed.
I went back inquired with neighbours only to know he's a fraud after speaking to the actual owner, he was evicted by police from there for creating a nuisance
I paid him 20k as a security deposit. To lock down the flat before signing the rental agreement.
Stopped receiving my calls, blocked my number, enabled DND when i tried to call from other numbers and didn't answer WhatsApp calls from unknown numbers
He also scammed another guy from Hyderabad who i go to know while researching his name

Edit: The only reason i haven't filed an FIR is because once filed an FIR the case will be linked to me and most Indian companies if they notice this whole police clearance they create a problem while switching jobs, I am in the process of switching jobs I spoke to a few lawyers they charge 10-15k in total for sending legal notices and all other processes which doesn't seem worth the time and effort to retrieve the rest of the amount
