I am now able to make steps without crutches!!
I am so happy. I am six weeks and four days post-op on left achilles. I practiced the basic motion of landing on my heel and moving on my last appointment with my PT but my balance was horribly off. I practiced shifting my weight on and off the leg constantly since then and managed to build up confidence in putting all my weight on the injured leg. Today after my morning exercise the swelling also subsided enough for me to reliably flex my foot enough so that I land on my heel and voila!
It feels amazing, even though I only walk very slowly, near support I can hold and only really did like 10 meters total so far it feels heavenly to move around without crutches, given I couldn't move an inch without them for the last month and a half. I of course can't roll off normally since even getting my foot to even neutral is really hard with all the stiffness, but I'm so happy to even just be able to fully step on it.
I see posts on here with these small wins and they make me feel nice so hope to use this to tell others that progress is closer than you think! I couldn't imagine walking at all a week ago.
