As someone with 20 years in the industry and 8+ in management, I’ve always found the algorithmic puzzle loop to be a poor signal for senior talent.
I prefer to work in non FAANG environments : mid to start up companies. Lately, most recruiters I talk to are upfront about it - they seem to be ditching the puzzles for architecture and leadership deep dives. It felt to me like the industry is finally correcting a broken process. For those of you hiring (or being hired) at the staff/manager level are you seeing the same trend, or is leetcode still the default?
