I’ve been in SureSmile about 14 months to prep for an implant and fix my bite. I’ve had multiple rescans/refinements and have only fully completed a couple sets of trays because they keep losing tracking. I’ve already paid around $5,000.

My bite still isn’t right for the implant. My canines hit first, I still have gaps on my bottom teeth, and things haven’t fully settled. After my 6th rescan, braces were brought up as the next step if aligners couldn’t fully correct things. I was then referred for a consult with an orthodontist as a courtesy transfer. From what I understand, the transfer hasn’t cost my original office anything yet.

At the consult, only a top-only plan was proposed at first because my main concern (deep bite) wasn’t included in the referral. Once clarified, I was told I actually need full top and bottom braces, which comes to about $2,925 after a discount. Now I’m trying to figure out what’s reasonable. This feels more like continuing the same case with a different method since aligners didn’t fully complete the correction.

Would you ask for financial help or just pay the extra cost? I already sent them a message with the invoice.
