hi everyone, just needing advice because i feel completely stuck.
i’ve been an enrolled nurse in public mental health inpatient unit for about 4–5 years now and i genuinely love my job.

i’m not burnt out, i enjoy the work, and i always planned to stay long term.

but since having my child, things have obviously changed.

i have no family support, and my partner is the main income earner with unpredictable hours (blue collar, finds out shift start times last minute).

because of that, the only hours i can realistically work are between 6:30am – 6:30pm.

i returned under a parental agreement (which is valid until my child starts school), and i previously had a flexible working arrangement for morning shifts only
but that’s now basically been rejected and i’ve been told i still need to be available across a rotating roster.

i understand i was originally employed as a shift worker, and i get the operational requirements side of things
i’m not trying to be difficult.

but at the same time, i physically cannot do late shifts/nights without childcare.

QNMU are aware but have basically said there’s not much that can be done.

i feel like i’m being pushed into a corner where my only option is to leave a job i actually love.

so i guess i’m asking:
has anyone successfully fought an fwa decision by an executor and had it overturned?

or did you end up having to leave bedside/public health because of it?

if you did leave, where did you go that actually works with family life?

this whole situation has been really stressful and i just feel a bit lost with what my next step should be.
