Hi, I'm just wondering has anyone been in the same position as me and could give me any advice. I'm on day 9 of stimulation (my first cycle of IVF).

I had a monitoring scan this morning and they measured around 6–8 follicles in the mid-size range. The nurse explained that they’ll need to grow into the mature range before they’re ready for trigger and egg retrieval which means probably another 5 days at least, obviously they can't know for sure.

My left ovary is responding more than my right and my left ovary also has fluid around it. The nurse said that's nothing to worry about. But my left ovary feels sore and tender, my right as well, but if both were like my right I could handle it, but my left is so uncomfortable.

I don't know if I can make it another 5 days because I know it's going to get worse. I think if I'd had any follicles big enough today I'd feel at least it can't get much worse than this but a stretch from medium size to big is still to come?!

I found it all do-able up until now, the estrogen priming for 10 days was difficult for me, I had to ask to lower the dose and they told me to lower it from 6mg a day to 4mg a day then it got much better. I felt sick and kind of a buzzing feeling in my body and really hard to sleep but it wasn't scary at all, it was just a matter of getting through it but by the end I was walking pretty slowly, my legs were so sore.

When I got onto injections I felt much better and for a week of stimulation it was fine except for bloating and heaviness and some small pains, but now my ovary feels so worn out. I'm not sure exactly what I'm worried about it just feels like such an unfamiliar pain.

I've noticed a lot of the people posting about IVF are very brave about the pain, it could be that I'm worrying too much but it would help to hear if anyone has experienced something similar. I'm also 43 so I'm not sure if older age makes it harder but I'd say probably not.

If you read this far thank you!
