We know this a tried and true path to wealth over the long run. Everything else is speculation and borderline gambling.

All the recent DRAM post felt very Wallstreetsbet-like…

But seriously, if we know index and chill is the right approach for the long run, why do anything else? Is it just the current zeitgeist right now around gambling-type investing (fanduel, prediction markets, etc) that creates this kind of speculative behavior?

I know being a Boglehead is all about indexing and staying the course. We’re not supposed to let the daily news affect our long-term strategies.

But I’m curious: has there ever been a world event that changed your investing strategy, even slightly?
