As much as I appreciate the local open mic nights here I just can't seem to find my crowd, either that be just as an audience or friendship wise! I'm really looking for like minded people writing wise and would love to get my stuff outside of the normie/local act sphere (if that makes sense) Very disenchanted with The Outlet as it seems they can't handle my writing style (confessional, religion critiquing, etc) + the crowd never really reacts and Ive been hassled about my (semi) erotic poems despite it being all ages. The Hangar seems more open minded (so far) but its not frequent enough for me to really build up any connections.
Anything that pertains to the alternative crowd would be great too! I'd love to meet people who can actually catch my music references and understand who my biggest inspirations are. Wouldn't mind getting my own group together either especially if we bond over the same music taste and sort of start our own thing as writers. (No I'm not interested in the metal or hardcore scene, very very bored of it and have been for a couple years)
