Hi everyone,
Hoping to get some insight on next steps to take in my career. I work at a software company where I’m wrapping up my 2 year - 4 rotation program. So far I’ve worked as:
- Analyst for revenue recognition
- FBP analyst for a vertical
- Order to cash analyst
- Corporate reporting (FP&A)
I’m rolling off my program in a few months and get to rank rotations, including those I haven’t rotated into. I’d like some guidance on places to end up that would offer the best growth within corporate finance long term.
I am also studying for the GRE and hope to go to business school next fall, so work life balance is a factor. In my current role I seldom work over 40 hours, increasing this drastically would be difficult.
I can make a case to work at most financial analyst roles that would be present at mid sized company when discussing with our chief of staff. I’ve had great managers throughout the program, I don’t believe that will be a factor. I did not enjoy the accounting focused rotations, and corporate reporting has been my favorite rotation by far. There are opportunities in other areas such as corporate development, tax, and FBP analyst roles that sound interesting. I believe we get to send in three roles in order of what we’d prefer and they try to work with that - business case has to present to take someone on.
Thanks for any advice!
