Thinking of switching to US Mobile. We currently have AT&t and I haven't been totally happy with the service coverage where we live and the towns that we drive to and from. In some areas that we spend time I lose data pretty regularly, like it will drop out, other times if I drive from one town to the other I have to enable airplane mode and disable it again to get the phone to pick up 5G.

Currently we have 3x galaxy s22+ phones on att postpaid. (Sm-s906u) I bought the phones used, and I believe they were listed as AT&t, not unlocked. At the very least they are definitely the "U" firmware. We've had the phones for about a year.

I am confident I can switch the devices over to the U1 firmware.

I have a question though:

Does it matter if I do the U1 firmware upgrade first and then carrier unlock them when I switch to US Mobile? A quick Google search show that I should try to do the carrier unlock first and then do the firmware upgrade. Are there any issues doing it one way or the other?
