Hey everyone — I’m working with Gather to put together a different kind of networking event for wedding pros in Philly.

I’m a photographer and comic. My comedy brand, Girldad Comedy, is helping bring the comedy part to the night.

The idea is simple:

Less business-card energy.

More “let’s actually hang out.”

We’re starting with a standup comedy show from the best comics in Philly, then keeping the room open for people to grab a drink, talk, meet other wedding pros, and just exist without feeling like they have to pitch themselves.

No speed networking.

No forced icebreakers.

No weird circle where everyone has to say what they do and pretend they love it.

Just comedy first, then an easy hang after.

Wedding pros spend all year making other people’s events feel easy. This one is supposed to feel easy for us.

Long story short, I’m a photographer turned comic and I created a show that’s been blowing up. Currently have 500 subscribers since February (anyone who buys a ticket gets promoted to sign up for the newsletter)

I used Flodesk because that’s just what I already had from my photo side. Recently there’s been a ton of complaints from long term users that the open rates have drastically gone down.

My newsletter/show is growing and I want to switch now before it gets bigger.

I used Beehiiv before and liked it, wondering if there’s anything specific I need to do when I join Beehiiv again and import my currently flodesk subscribers. Also anything specific I should setup that might not be obvious?

We’re doing a special 4/20 edition of Comedy Speed Dating at Nazareth Center for the Arts in Nazareth PA.

It’s part stand-up show, part real speed dating, part “maybe you meet your stoner soulmate, maybe you just laugh a lot and have a weird Monday.”
