Hello all!

I have a problem with my SsangYong Rexton RX270 XDi from 2006. It's an automatic.

The car has issues when running under load, e.g. when accelerating uphills.

Originally the car would always throw these two error codes

P1148 - Accelerometer (Knock Sensor) Learning Fault

P1254 - Maximum Rail Pressure Control Malfunction (IMV Fault)

Because of this we did a check on the fuel injectors and came to the conclusion that there are probably 2 injectors that are faulty.

So we got two refurbished ones, replaced them, updated the C2I coding in the ECU - but the problem persisted.

Then we went on a wild goose chase and replaced a bunch of things.

We replaced:

  • Both Knock Sensors
  • Cleaned / Checked EGR Valve
  • Replaced the Inlet Metering Valve of the High Pressure Fuel Pump
  • Replaced the Boost Pressure Sensor (we just noticed it was super clogged and dirty)
  • Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor
  • Connectors for Glow Plugs
  • Connectors for the Injectors
  • Diesel Fuel Filter

We've also checked to the best of our ability the wiring harness but couldn't see any cracks, also checked the vacuum lines but they also seem fine.

Since none of these things helped and the error codes would always come back when accelerating uphill we decided to replace all injectors.

So we got 5 more refurbished injectors and replaced them all.

Afterwards we updated the C2I coding in the ECU and also reset the rail pressure initialization.

Afterwards we've gone for a test drive and the loss of power / vibration continues (again really only when under load - otherwise she's smooth) - but it's no longer throwing codes.

Went to a workshop and bribed the head mechanic (they currently have a lead time of about 6 weeks!!!) to do a test-drive / check what he thinks and he said the only thing that didn't seem okay to him was injector 4.

So we went ahead and replaced that one again - updated the coding - but now the car basically sounds like it misfires as you can see in the video. Again, idles smooth - runs smooth under higher RPMs too but under load the problem persists -- and now, when parked you can hear that weird sound when releasing the throttle.

We did another leak-off test too with the new injectors and it looks pretty good to me?

We also checked to see if the injectors are sealed but it looks good too, I sprayed some soapy water while the car was running onto the injectors but there were no bubbles or anything.

We're really at a loss here - so I'm very happy for any kind of idea / feedback!
