Does anyone have any tips for Paper 1?? I feel like it's so much content to remember and i'm scared!!!

So I've been told by my teachers that calculations (so pretty much everything in math) is allowed to be in pencil. However, is it possible that it won't scan properly?
Is it better to write it all in pen and just cross out mistakes? Will this be too messy?
Or will we have time to go over everything in pen?
