Hyundai elantra touring overheating after 40 mins
I have an hyundai elantra touring with just under 115k miles. Never had any major issues. Within the past few weeks, when I drive to my workplace thats about an hour away, my car starts to overheat at stop lights. The odd thing is that it only does it towards the end of the trip. The overheating is much more severe in the afternoons when its warmer and I'm sitting at a light longer due to rush hour. It has gotten to the point where I physically have to turn the car off to ensure it doesn't go into the red. My husband has driven it back and forth to work with zero issue. His job is about 30 mins away and he can come home and directly go to my kids bus stop and idle for around 20 mins with zero issue. So I'm at a loss.
I checked my coolant level and oil level when this forst started, both were empty. I filled them both back up, had diagnostics done and the shop could not replicate the issue since they only drove it around for 20 mins. They did a pressure check and not leaks were found.
I really don't know what is happening so here I am coming to the experts for any insight as to what is going on. The shop is guessing water pump or thermostat. Would you agree? I also need a new cv? axle and tie rod so I am trying to keep the price down and not replace things that might not be broken. It's either that or I buy a used car..
What do ya'll think?
