I (28M) have always been a on the heavier side. Before the pandemic, i was making small wins and was my lowest adult weight, at 98kg. My parents never helped me develop a good relationship with food. Had to eat all my plate, dad buying takeout cause he couldn't be asked to cook, mum who doesn't eat veg, etc. I remember being 8 and weighing 50kg and feeling like shit.
When the pandemic hit, it all went downhill. I went up to 135kg at my highest in 2024. I didn't really start counting, i had a problem with stress eating and then starving myself, not nice. I then got married and had a son. After the 6 months of post natal blur, i decided it was enough.
So for the past 3 months, i have been doing 1900 to 2050 kcal (roughly -500 cal daily from TDEE), walking at first 7k steps, now 11k to 15k all while baby carrying since he is a velcro baby. I've gone from 38 bmi, 126 kg, to 117kg, so 35 BMI! Not the fastest but very maintainable imo with a baby AND full time employment and no village to raise a child.
