Léarscáil Mhiotaseolaíoch na hÉireann 🗺️ (By me!)

A Mythological Map Ireland I made. Credit to 'Fairy and folk tales of the Irish peasantry' W.B. Yeats, 'Early Irish Myths and Sagas' Jeffrey Gantz and Duchas.ie, great reads, particularly all the local folk tales and regional interpretations of our mythos on Duchas, highly recommend it!

Myths are a type of religion no one any longer believes, but we still see the lone hawthorn trees stand.

Ireland’s folk-tales are full of simplicity and the music of life and death, they are the literature of a class for whom every incident in the old rut of birth, love, pain and death has cropped up unchanged for centuries, who have steeped everything in the heart and to whom everything is a symbol.

It is recorded how Storytellers used to gather together of an evening and tell tales. And if any had a different version from the others, they would all recite theirs and vote, and those who had varied would have to abide by their verdict.

The Storyteller has made their work literature rather than science, passed down through generations. The earliest voices from the dawn of civilisation, some of these first penned in the 8th Century, created the economic, social and artistic foundation for our island.

I got more art like this on my instagram if interested Cliffdogart (hope this doesn't count as promotion!!)
