Good Afternoon -

I was attempting to make a backup of a disc that was giving me problems. When I later came in to the office, I heard a terrible sound. The disc had broken into a bunch of pieces and was trapped in the drive. I was able to take the drive apart, remove all the debris, and successfully retest with a known good disc. However, I don't want this to happen again. Is there anything that would contribute to failure like that, and is there anything I could have done differently to avoid the failure? The drive info is below.
