Genuinely an awful tax. So harmful to anyone on low income trying to strive for a better future, as if money isn’t strained enough.
Punishing people who take the initiative to educate themselves financially and try to have a better quality of life in the future if they didn’t thrive career wise.
Removing a route to financial freedom that’s tangible to all social classes. Just so unfair. Killing the compounding if you have to sell your shares to pay the tax.
I understand it’s to combat tax deferral but there has to be a better way. Just baffles me to this day.
Just nullifies the entire point of an etf which is just so frustrating as they’re so much safer than other investments. Also just harms the housing situation even more as people pool their capital into property instead.
I’m sure there’s been many rants about it on this subreddit but just had to vent.
I’d be very interesting in people’s opinions on how we could even come about removing it.
