I'm 25M currently living in Uganda. My whole adult life I have pursued and tried everything to try to relocate to the West (specially the US) for the obvious reasons of wanting to make more money, have a better career opportunities, passport, etc. There were 2 times I was on the path of relocating to the US, but Allah hasn't yet made that possible and Allah has the knowledge as to why he didn't give me that. Allah is the best of all planners.

But now, I'm seeing mass layoffs happening through out the west, people losing jobs for no reason. When I now open YouTube, I see actual (cadaan) Americans becoming desperate, exhausted, depressed, not having income, crashing out, at their lowest point. Some Americans are even questioning why they were born or even existed and many wanting to die because of not making ends meet, becoming homeless.

I'm questioning the same aspirations I once and still have of relocating to the West. Is it really worth it now? We see the hatred coming from these people and how much they hate us Somalis. Does relocating to the West financially make sense now?

I'm seeing many Muslims making hijrah back to Islamic countries to leave the fitnah of the West. Muslims have always known the fitnah of the west, but have still relocated to it for the money. But with the way how the economy is in the West & the mass surprising layoffs people are facing, is it really worth wanting to relocate to the West? The West is no longer glamorous anymore

A little bit about myself, I'm in tech and currently doing remote work and Alhamdulilah thanks to Allah, I'm getting something. I'm looking for advice;

  1. How can I best position myself (strategically) for long term success?
  2. Should I just stay in East Africa or even go back home? And pursue remote work.
  3. Should I still chase relocating to the West?

Hi all, I'm 25M who is deaf in his right ear. I'm currently in Uganda where CI surgeries are mostly not done as they don't have the equipment and no experts/doctors in this field.

I found out about my right ear issue when I was 14 years (in 2013). We went to some ENT doctors and they couldn't help and all they told us was that I will have to live with my deaf right ear and that I should protect my left ear. I did research and found out there is something called a Cochlear Implant surgery for people like me and that gave me hope.

I have lived with my left ear and I'm always protecting it. The past few years, I have noticed some pain in my left ear and I'm scared of losing it as well.

Once when I was on a trip to Daresalaam Tanzania, I saw someone with a CI (I was super happy for him). I asked him where he got his surgery, he said he has done it from South Africa and costed him about $90,000. CRAZY number.

In Uganda, there is one clinic that possibly do CI surgeries and it costs about $80K-$100K. I'm a refugee in this country as well and I just can't afford it. I don't know what to do about my situation.

I'm curious to know if there are any International organizations that provide sponsorships or grants for people in such situations. If you know any organization/hospital/doctor who can help, please let me know.

Any advice is highly appreciated.
