my GTX 1070 was finally starting to show its age bad, stuttering in newer titles, struggling to hold frames at 1440p and i knew it was time. was fully planning to wait it out for a 5070 to drop to something reasonable but lol that aint happening anytime soon.
coworker mentioned he was offloading his 6800 XT cause he went full 5080 mode. had some money saved on the side so i just said screw it and pulled the trigger. card arrived perfect, not even dusty.
been using it for about a month now and im kinda mad it took me this long. runs Cyberpunk on high at 1440p no problem, threw Black Myth at it, even some older stuff i never properly experienced with good frames. zero complaints.
people seriously overlook used previous gen cards way too much. not everything has to be the latest drop to actually be a great upgrade. the 6800 XT in particular feels weirdly underrated for what it can still do in 2026
