Hi,

I’m looking for feedback on the PCB placement/layout before I start routing.

This is a Raspberry Pi CM4 carrier board with HDMI, USB, Ethernet/RJ45, PCIe/M.2 SSD, power regulators, and a battery/UPS section.

At this stage I’m mainly asking about component placement, not schematic design or final routing.

My main questions are:

  • Are any major blocks placed in a bad location?
  • Are the HDMI, USB, PCIe, or Ethernet sections too far from where they should be?
  • Does the power/battery section placement look reasonable?
  • Am I creating obvious routing problems with this placement?
  • Would you rotate or move any major components before routing?

Planned stackup:

L1: signal/components
L2: GND
L3: power
L4: signal
L5: GND
L6: signal/low-speed/power

I know the ratsnest is messy. That is why I want placement feedback before routing.

Thanks.
