The Internet in Iran has been cut off by the oppressive Islamic Republic government for over 75 days.

If the Internet in Gaza, Ukraine, or anywhere else whose support for human rights defenders had been cut off for just 7 days, they would have turned the world upside down; but Iran’s Internet has been effectively cut off for 75 days and the water has not budged.

Do you think anything special has happened? No. The actual rate of free Internet access in Iran, as Netblocks shows, has reached about 2 percent; millions of people have been effectively held hostage in a digital prison for not 7 days, but 75 days, and while the Islamic Republic is busy behind the scenes repressing, arresting, and executing, it is selling the public a piece of junk called “Internet Pro” as a solution that is a deliberate sterilization of free access to information and a clear violation of human rights and citizens’ privacy. Apparently, for a world that claims to be free, only those sufferings that are not worth taking a stand for, or are worth the color of the eyes of its people, are noticeable.
