My husband and I are gearing up for round 4 of IVF. Our previous 3 rounds yielded pretty average fertilization rates with ICSI but pretty bad blastocyst rates. His urologist believes it could be caused by his 23% dna fragmentation which is likely caused by a varicocele vein. He recommended a microTESE and we have that scheduled for the day before my retrieval in a couple of weeks.

What I find a little confusing is that my IVF doctor doubts that will help. She thinks my husband's Dna frag is only borderline and not causing the issues. She claims that its both an egg and sperm issue. Looking through the embryology reports, it actually looks like about 30% are making it to blastocyst, but they are so poor that they cannot biopsy or freeze them. We have had 33 eggs retrieved and only 2 Day 7 blastocysts (both pretty well graded and euploid). I am curious if anybody has a similar story and successfully had a biological child?

I am also wondering if others have gotten conflicting information from their RE and Urologists?
