i have been researching my options and this is what im oscillating between. both of them lead to minimal placements, so im not talking about getting a job immediately after im done with my bachelors. this is not that post.

btech is expensive (20lakh ish whole course on average for all the colleges that offer it) while bsc is cheaper (1- 2lakh for whole course) IF i manage to make it into the central unis that offer it. i am so infinitely confused about so many things here though.

• 1. is it wise to invest that amount of money in btech? are the prospects later on (after bachelors and mtech is done) very different from bsc + msc- which i could do at a more affordable rate?

• 2. from what ive understood, bsc msc leads to research, while btech and mtech open more industrial roles. my plan was, even before i knew btech biotech existed, to learn coding and basic computation like excel alongside my bsc. can i expect being able to approach industrial roles after bsc biotech if i put in extra work and try to upskill alongside, even if i dont have a btech degree? its easier to get into research from btech than it is to approach industry through bsc, i think. so im just trying to gauge if there is a way to work around it. its easy to say this, but the upskilling depends entirely on me, and i get scared that i wont actually be able to do it. but you do the best you can when you dont have much in your hands anyway.

• 3. i have seen that a vast majority of central unis dont explicitly offer biotech in the first place. very handful of them. most of it is core sciences like zoo/bot or biochemistry. if i dont land one of the central unis that do offer it, is there a way to come around to biotech (or actually bioinformatics) in msc, from any other related bachelors course?

• 4. i dont think i can get msc outside. is it realistic doing msc from india and getting something out of it, job wise? i havent thought far ahead till phd yet, because frankly right now i don't even know if i like research. i wouldnt know because i have never done it, right now im choosing this because it seems interesting and like something i could grow to like. but if i end up doing phd, i will try for outside india. and altho this is a little far fetched, id be grateful if anyone could tell me how the funded phd thing works. what to do for it, how to approach your bachelors and masters, internship and all. my family is from a humble background so im choosing everything very carefully, im sorry if the topic gets redundant.

• 5. and regardless of the bachelors course i join, what should i start doing that you wish you had started before?

• 6. besdies these courses, is there something you recommend i look into?

i would be so grateful for any suggestions and replies. thank you in advance and sorry for the long post:)
