I’ll go first. Whenever people say bad things about fandoms I’m in, I have to leave, whether it’s a video, an online post, or fanart.
I don’t do this because I think my fandoms are perfect. All of mine are very far from perfect. I more so do it because when I hear people talk negatively about my fandoms, I feel bad for liking them and being in them, so I just leave so I don’t linger and overthink about it.
The best example I can think of right now is some of the recent happenings in the Dandy’s World fandom. Whenever people call the gameplay loop boring or clown on Qwel for whatever the new thing-to-hate-of-the-week is, I have to leave because I’ll just feel bad for liking whatever she’s adding to the game. The same can be said for any writing decision in the Sonic the Hedgehog fandom. No matter the writer, they’ll always be hated on by a small minority of people that somehow always ends up being the loudest wherever I go.
