I’m reaching out for guidance regarding a serious issue my mother and I have been facing for several years.

On 2077/11/23 B.S, my mother lent approximately NPR 25 lakh to her own sister. At the time, my aunt assured her that the money would be returned by 2078/02/23 B.S. She also built trust by promising to support my future and help me find better opportunities. Believing her words, my mother agreed to lend the amount.(what actually is that the sold my land by building trust to pay with in a 6 months)

Unfortunately, even after all this time, the money has not been repaid.

Whenever my mother tries to ask for it, she is met with threats and intimidation. The situation is difficult because they are politically influential, which makes my mother feel even more helpless. She is already physically and mentally weak, and my father is not present, so the responsibility has fallen on me.

I personally went once to request repayment, but I was also threatened.

We do have a written promissory note (Tamasuk), prepared by a local scribe at the time of lending. However, it was not officially registered at the ward office, and I’m unsure how that affects its legal validity.

At this point, I believe legal action may be necessary, but I don’t have clear knowledge about the process or how to begin.

If anyone has experience or knowledge about loan recovery, legal procedures, or handling situations involving threats, I would truly appreciate your advice. I just want to find a safe and fair way to resolve this and get justice for my mother.

My family lent approximately NPR 25 lakh to my maternal aunt (my mother’s sister) on 2077/11/23 B.S. At the time of lending, she promised to repay the amount by 2078/02/23 B.S.

However, even after several years, she has not repaid the money.

Whenever my mother asks for repayment, my aunt and her family threaten her. They are politically influential, which makes my mother afraid to take action. I also personally went to ask for the money once, and I was threatened as well.

My father is not present, and my mother is physically and mentally weak. My aunt initially gained my mother’s trust by making promises that she would help me with better opportunities and support my future. Using these assurances, she convinced my mother to lend the money.

We do have a written promissory note (Tamasuk), prepared by a local scribe (clerk). However, this document was not officially registered at the local ward office.

Now, I want to take legal action to recover the money, but I do not have knowledge about court procedures or legal processes. I am seeking guidance on how to proceed and get justice.
