Okay so this post is honestly embarrassing and that is why I am on here and not calling lawyers figuring out what I can do. So. Stay with me on this post please it’s going to be a little long.
Sept 2024- I get arrested and booked into Fort Bend county jail in Texas. A couple of months go by and other inmates are starting to tell me that my face is super noticeably swollen when I wake up and that the edges of my face were red. I didn’t think much about it though. Around the same time I notice my lymph node behind my ear is swollen and my throat is starting to itch. I believe I’m starting to get sick. I put into medical that my throat is sore. They come and check it out and tell me to gargle salt water. I mention my lymph node. Some time went and the other inmates are still telling me that my face looks bad. I also have noticed a rash of some sort all over my upper body. Little small red welts. They didn’t really itch at all. But it was just super weird. I put into medical. They check it out and tell me that I’m probably just allergic to the blanket and issue me a special cotton blanket and some cortisone and call it a solved problem. Which didn’t even make sense because I wasn’t itchy. Now my throat is actually killing me so I put it back in medical and they come and check it out and it turns out I now have thrush mouth. They gave me antibiotics after antibiotics and nothing worked. It wouldn’t go away. It was actually getting worse. At the same time the rash wasnt going away even after the switched blanket. So now they want to run blood tests on me for all kinds of things. Now my hair is starting to fall out. Terribly. Clumps. You’d think I was taking chemo. I was going bald for real and they weren’t taking me serious. The rash was making my skin so dry and flaky. My skin was starting to look like an old lady. I was devastated. And helpless depending on these doctors was my only hope. All tests came back to nothing. There was one thing that came back that they ruled out because it’s contagious and I had been around other inmates for months now and no one else was coming up with the same symptoms so they ruled it out. They were completely stumped about what to do about me. They took pics. Said they were working on figuring out how to help me even outside of work. They decided to give me a very high dose of steroids. And it worked. My face stopped swelling. The rash went away. But my hair was still falling out. The doctors had me believe that it was from “old age” because I didn’t know what else to believe. So for the rest of my time there at fort bend county (sept 2024-june 2025) I was on the steroids, gaining excess weight, and loosing about 75% of the hair on my head, and everywhere else on my body. But thinking that I was fine. From there I got transferred to Harris county jail in Texas (june 2025-oct 2025)They require mandatory HIV & syphilis tests upon booking. So a week into being there I get pulled out to go speak with the health department in the clinic. And she then tells me that I have syphilis and that it’s very bad and if it had been any longer that I would have started suffering permanent brain damage. And I explained to her all of the symptoms I had been having at the other jail and she was astonished that they did not know that I was suffering from an STD. (Syphilis) I got shots and was cured but I still have life long damage done to me from this.

Things that I suffer with today because of this:

  1. My vision.
  2. I will forever be traumatized from loosing my hair. And it’s still not the same. And I have to spend a lot of money regularly for hair extensions to make myself look presentable.
  3. I can feel on my skin where the rash was and my skin has a texture from it, almost like scar tissue.

That’s all I can think of right now.
My question is would it benefit me to bring my situation to a lawyer ? Thank you xoxo
