I’m that crew person who keeps chiming in every once in a while. I’m glad people are loving the show and are going everything with a fine-tooth comb to look for stuff. Knowing our hard work keeps you interested to nice to see!
I keep seeing a lot of posts regarding the inconsistencies throughout the seasons, like background performers (not extras! We call them background or BG), camera angles, placement of set decoration, etc, and I wanted to address something real quick.
We’re all just humans trying to make a cool thing, and there are often a few months (and sometimes a whole other show) between shooting FROM. Film sets are fast paced and chaotic, and we have limited time to get the stuff we need to shoot for a whole bunch of reasons, so we’re not too fussed on the teeny details in the background. It’s simply not possible for us to keep every tiny detail in check, so mistakes and inconsistencies are bound to happen. That, and it costs too much money to reshoot a scene to make sure a basket on the table is angled just right.
I won’t go into any details (please do not ask; I legally cannot talk about a lot of stuff), but when it comes to things like this in the background, the best course of action is often to employ suspension of disbelief. For those who don’t know what that is:
>Suspension of disbelief is the avoidance—often described as willing—of critical thinking and logic in understanding something that is unreal or impossible in reality in order to believe it for the sake of enjoying its narrative.
Mistakes in production are unavoidable; ours probably seem more glaring because of the nature of the world. But you will drive yourself mad looking for all the inconsistencies, and we want you to just enjoy the show.
