Hi I’m interested in getting my CDL either by paying for it myself or finding a major carrier that hires new drivers but the one thing holding me back is I had my drivers license for 10 years and then I ended up getting a good job literally blocks from my house so I ended up selling my car and didn’t renew my license when the time came it was right under 4 years until I renewed it in December 2025 I’m finding back and forth info about if I have to hold my regular license for a minimum of 12 months before I can get my CDL A or can I apply now only after 6 months of renewing my license I didn’t have to take any written tests or behind the wheel they just gave it to me thanks for the info I’m in California if that makes a difference
