hello! I am an incoming FY1 from August, and I just wanted to ask for some advice. I have a (relatively successful) side hustle in another industry that I started while at medical school, and it’s going quite well. I’m really passionate about it (and love and enjoy medicine too!) but I’m worried that I might have to give it up/work on it less during F1 and F2.
I just wanted some advice on the best way to be able to balance both as I’m hoping to take an F3 to really work on it more for a year, so don’t want to stop it completely! Equally really keen to hear from doctors who’ve got other side things going on outside of medicine, as I don’t know many.
It’s mostly remote, which is the best thing. I have 3 intense rotations and 3 rotations which I think are just standard hours. Obviously if I can’t balance it I’ll step back, but wanted to see if it was possible to keep it going, as the F1s I’ve spoken to on placement say it’ll be difficult.
Thanks! Also any FY1 advice would be much welcome as I’m really nervous about starting but also really excited! (I start on medicine) 😊
