I started gathering documents to apply with my cousins in 2022 but it was a slow process and then the decree hit last year. Our last Italian-born ancestors were our great-great-grandparents who immigrated to the US in the early 20th century. As far as I can tell, our line is unbroken and would have been valid before the decree. Obviously, I am no longer eligible for Jure Sanguinis due to the decree and subsequent court decisions.
However, my grandmother still is eligible and I was curious if I would be eligible for accelerated 2-year naturalization if she was recognized via Jure Sanguinis. I am having trouble understanding the distinction between "Italian by birth" which I assume refers to those who were recognized rather than naturalizing, and "native-born Italian" which could mean that or someone who was actually born within the borders of the state. Do the exclusively Italian rules apply for this process as well?
I am having trouble finding comprehensive info online to answer my question. Thanks. If this is not the right sub, I apologize, but it seems like a lot of people here are having to adjust their expectations.x
